Vacation leave on full pay may be granted by the Governor,

without reference to the Secretary of State for the Colonies,

for periods, the aggregate of which does not exceed six weeks

in any one calendar year's service. In considering any applica-

-tion for such leave regard will be had to the period of

service which the officer has completed during the year as well

as to the proposals for carrying out his duties without extra

cost to the public.

An Officer may accumulate his vacation leave for a period

of two, but not more than two, calendar years' service, and

shall in that case be entitled to three months' vacation leave

on account of his service during two consecutive calendar years, provided that such accumulated leave can only be taken during the second of two consecutive calendar years regard being had to the period of service which the officer has completed during such second calendar year as well as to the proposals for carry- -ing out his duties without extra cost to the public.

The fact that an officer has taken the full amount of leave

which may be accumulated during two consecutive calendar years

(a) shall not deprive him of the right to take six weeks' vacation leave in the year next following the second such calendar year, provided that the leave be not taken at the beginning of such next following year so as to be consecutive with the accumulated leave of the two preceding years: and pro- -vided further that an Officer cannot earn vacation leave while

on half pay leavej

(b) nor shall it deprive him of the privilege of again accumulating leave in respect of the two next following years in the manner provided by the preceding rule.
